Pumpkin pie dates back to the early American Settlers. The Native Americans
would bring pumpkins as gifts to the first settlers, and would teach them the
many uses for the pumpkin. The Settlers made pumpkin pie by filling a hollowed
out shell with milk, honey and spices, then baking it in hot ashes. This is what
evolved into Pumpkin Pie as we know it today.

beyond, but the species was wiped out by blight at the turn of the 20th century.

Deb's 2 Cents on Health:
I remove all sugar from recipes, and use a replacement like honey, real maple
syrup, or other natural sugar from the health food store, as
SUGAR is TOXIC
TO THE BODY,
article here.   That includes any synthetic sugars, nutra-sweet
article here.

AS far as I am concerned processed white sugar is good for one thing, snake
bite, to keep your heart going, until the anti-toxin comes along. (important hint,
from experience - sometimes hospitals don't have the anti-toxin, but the fire
department does - amazing).

When sugar is completely out of your diet, and you have ONE cookie, you will
seriously feel it. Your heart palpitates at such a fast rate, dizzy, etc. Try it! Go 2
weeks without any sugar, then eat something small. Now you'll realize the effects
on our kids, and your own health.

I also use natural salt with no aluminum in it, nor anything with aluminum - which
is toxic when heated.  Besides you get a better dose of other minerals. And no
non-stick pans, toxic. Eggs and all American dairy and meats are LOADED with
synthetic estrogens, which adversely affect our health...reaking havoc on our
hormones. IN fact, all banned in Europe.

I also replace white flour with a whole grain one, when possible. (I NEVER use
hydrogenated oils, or anything with cotton seed oils. Cotton seed oil was
deliberately put into the communist Chinese food supply for population control -
obviously it ruins a persons hormones making them imbalanced - so the
chances of conception are reduced.  Then it came over here to our country.

Believe it or not, natural cold pressed coconut oil holds up the best when
heating without changing the oil adversely. I had been using olive oil for cooking,
and I just found out it doesn't really do well when heated, but it's great for
salads. Natural oil is expensive, why not steam or baste instead of using oils -
keeps the calories down. Read my Natural Health section for more health
information.
